Music & Movement
This camp will be not be offered this summer (2023).
Music is a powerful motivator! This summer we are planning on offering a week long camp 9-12 daily to promote successful play skills in a group setting. We hope to energize and excite the kids, but also allow them to become more confident in areas they might avoid in a large group setting.
This group camp for children ages 4-5 is geared toward helping kids with:
- small group play
- cooperative activities
- more structured games and activities
- skills like taking turns and sharing
- maintaining personal space while moving within a group environment (and all through fun activities and games!).
We will utilize a comprehensive approach to facilitating sensory integration and motor control, which drives learning, and therefore the performance of our children. The camp is geared towards children who are ready to experience fun activities with their peers but might still be challenged in traditional camp programs.
The group is run by a occupational, physical, and a certified music therapist who team together to help the children have an opportunity to explore a variety of sensory experiences as they engage in physical and fine motor activities in a group setting with the powerful motivator of music! Using therapeutic activities, gross motor games, yoga based exercises, and music, we will have fun while addressing:
- Age appropriate gross and fine motor development
- Self-regulation and sensory processing abilities
- Hand skills, including strength and dexterity
- Postural control, core-muscle strengthening, balance and coordination, body and space awareness and motor planning
Our goal is for each child to have a mind and body ready for interactive play with their peers in a fun setting!
